Council Member nominated by the Law Society of Nunavut
Tamara Fairchild was nominated as a Federation Council Member by the Law Society of Nunavut in November 2015. Since 2010 she has worked as a criminal defence lawyer for the Legal Services Board of Nunavut. Her present position is Lead Criminal Counsel for the Maliganik Tukisiniarvik Legal Clinic in Iqaluit. She also has experience as a criminal law research lawyer for Legal Aid Ontario (LAO Law) as defence counsel in private practice, and as an assistant crown attorney.
Ms. Fairchild graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Russian. She later attended the University of Ottawa, and received her LL.B in 2004. She was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2005, and to the Law Society of Nunavut in 2010.
She currently serves as Vice-President of the Law Society of Nunavut.
