National Family Law Program

2024 National Family Law Program

Academics, practitioners and members of the judiciary from the public, private, and non-profit sectors are invited to submit proposals for papers to present at the National Family Law Program, to be held July 22 – 25, 2024 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Details about submissions are here

During this in-person event, more than 60 faculty from diverse streams of family law share their knowledge and experience with newcomers to the practice as well as experienced practitioners. Sessions focus on matters related to:

  • child and spousal support
  • child custody
  • surrogacy
  • financial disclosure in divorce proceedings
  • child protection
  • tax principles in family law, and much more

The sessions also deliver tips on how to grow and run a successful family law practice.

Participation in the National Family Law Program satisfies Continuing Legal Education Requirements in provinces and territories across Canada. Details specific to each region for the next edition of the National Family Law Program will be included on this page as soon as they are available.

CPD Accreditation for Attendance at NFLP 2022

Attendance at the 2022 NFLP provided up to provided up to 18.5 hours of substantive legal content. In addition, attendance at the following sessions has been accredited with the Law Society of Ontario as follows:

  • Personal Resilience: A Foundational Ethic for Family Law Lawyers and Judges
    • Approved Professionalism:  1  hour and  15  minutes (Accreditation Criteria Session Approved Under:  5.5)
