Pinder K. Cheema, Q.C. was nominated to the Federation Council in September 2019 by the Law Society of British Columbia.
Pinder practices as a prosecutor with the BC Prosecution Services and is a member of the Bilingual Prosecutors Group. She also does solicitor’s work as a sole practitioner. She was first elected a bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC) in 2014, and has Chaired the law society’s Ethics Committee and served on its Anti-Money Laundering Task Force. Since January 2019, she has also served as the law society’s representative on the Federation’s Standing Committee on the Model Code.
Pinder received her BA in French from the University of Victoria. She taught English and French prior to returning to university to obtain her LLB. She was called to the Bar in 1984 and designated Queen’s Counsel in 2002. Since 2014, Pinder has participated with the Centre canadien de français juridique inc. (CCFJ), which offers programs to help provincially appointed francophone judges in New Brunswick learn English legal terminology.
