Jacqueline Horvat

Vice President 2021-2022 and Council Member nominated by the Law Society of Ontario
Jacqueline Horvat was nominated to the Federation Council by the Law Society of Ontario in 2019.
Jacqueline received her LL.B. from the University of Windsor and was called to the Ontario bar in 2002. In 2011, she was elected as the youngest Bencher in the history of the Law Society of Upper Canada (now the Law Society of Ontario). She was re-elected as Bencher in 2015 and 2019, and is now serving her third and final term. She is also currently chair of the law society’s Professional Regulation Committee, Proceedings Authorization Committee, and the Technology Task Force.
Jacqueline is a litigation lawyer and a founding partner of Spark LLP. She has a broad and varied corporate and commercial litigation practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial disputes. She began her career at what is now Strosberg Sasso Sutts LLP, one of Canada’s leading class action firms, gaining extensive experience in complex commercial cases, class action litigation and appeals.
Jacqueline also teaches Legal Profession and Ethics as a sessional instructor at University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Library Co. Inc., the non-profit corporation that manages the Ontario County and District Law Library system.
