Council Member nominated by the Law Society of Prince Edward Island
Stephen McKnight was appointed a Council member by the Law Society of Prince Edward Island in September 2012. Mr. McKnight is with Key Murray Law in Summerside, P.E.I. and practices as a corporate commercial lawyer with a focus on acquisitions and corporate finance. He also has an extensive practice in investment and skilled worker immigration. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2005.
Mr. McKnight was a member of the Council of the Law Society of Prince Edward Island from 2001 to 2012, serving as President in 2010/2011. He has served on numerous committees on behalf of the law society, including serving as the society’s representative on the Federal Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee for six years. In addition, he serves on the Boards of Directors of numerous not-for-profit organizations.
Stephen is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick (BA Honours History 1972/ LLB 1975) He practiced in Fredericton, New Brunswick from 1975 to 1985. While in Fredericton, in addition to his practice, he was lecturer at the University of New Brunswick in the faculty of law.
