Council Member nominated by the Barreau du Québec
Bernard Synnott was nominated as a Council member by the Barreau du Québec in November 2015. He is a partner at the law firm Fasken Martineau and has practised as a litigation lawyer for 25 years. He advises clients primarily in fields related to labour and employment law and conflict management.
Mr. Synnott was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1987 after he completed his law degree at the University of Ottawa.
From 1996 to 2001, he was a professor at the École du Barreau du Québec, where he taught such topics as administrative law and civil procedure. He then served as Chair of its Board of Directors from 2001 to 2003.
Mr. Synnott was President of the Bar of Montréal from 2004 to 2005, and then Vice-President of the Barreau du Québec from 2013 to 2014 and its Bâtonnier from 2014 to 2015.
Mr. Synnott is a regular speaker on various subjects related to employment law.
