Council Member nominated by the Law Society of Ontario
Michelle Haigh was nominated to the Council of the Federation by the Law Society of Ontario in 2018. She is a licensed paralegal and founding partner of Precision Paralegal Services LLP in Burlington, Ontario.
Michelle graduated with Honours from the Paralegal Studies program at Sheridan College in 1996, and holds Faculty of Law Certificate(s) in ADR/Advanced ADR from the University of Windsor. She was first elected a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada (now the Law Society of Ontario) in 2010, and was re-elected in 2014. Michelle has also been a member of Ontario’s Paralegal Standing Committee (PSC) since 2006, working to establish the by-laws governing the paralegal profession in Ontario and contributing to ongoing improvements in the paralegal licensing process. She served as Chair of the Committee from April 2015 to April 2018.
A mentor for many paralegals, Michelle is a member of the Toronto Small Claims Court “Frequent User Committee” and Humber College Program Advisory Board. She was an appointed director of the Board of Directors for Legal Aid Ontario between 2011 and 2016, and now sits as a director of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Mental Health Association (Halton Branch).
