Council Member nominated by the Law Society of Upper Canada
Ross Earnshaw was elected to the Federation Council effective November 2016. Since his call to the Bar of Ontario in 1979, he has engaged in a commercial litigation practice with emphasis on real estate related litigation, shareholders remedies and estate litigation. A partner in the Waterloo Region offices of Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP, he has been featured in both the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada for corporate and commercial litigation.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from York University in 1974, and his Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1977. Ross has served as a Bencher of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 2012. He is a member of several of the law society’s committees and groups, chairing the Real Estate Liaison Group as well as the Task Force on Compliance-Oriented Entity Regulation. He also serves on the board of LibraryCo, which oversees the Ontario county courthouse library system, and the board of the Law Foundation of Ontario, a non-profit organization that improves access to justice for people across the province.
Ross has actively served on various community boards and committees including the Cambridge Public Library Board.
