Jeff is a partner with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP in Winnipeg, practising primarily in the areas of administrative law as well as commercial litigation. His administrative law practice is centred on professional regulation for self-governing professions. He currently provides advice to a number of those professions as counsel to discipline and complaints committees, as a prosecutor, and with respect to policy development. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 1984 and earned his Bachelor of Laws in 1986. Jeff was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1987. From 2009 to 2014, Jeff was Manitoba’s representative on Federation Council.
Jeff was first elected as a Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba in 2002 and served as President in 2009-10. Jeff is also a sessional lecturer in Remedies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba.
He represents Council on the Steering Committee of Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin’s Action Committee on Access to Justice in Civil and Family Matters. He is a passionate advocate for and frequent lecturer on improved access to justice for all Canadians.
